Nigeria Pillar Of Sports Throws Weight Behind Dream Team
Published: August 10, 2016
Spurred by the scintillating performance of the Under-23 football team
which has booked a berth in the quarter-final stage, the Nigeria Pillar
of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, JP has rallied support for the
Nigerian contingent to the on-going Rio Olympics Games to enhance
possible medals.
In a statement released by the Chairman, Office of the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Prince Olayioye Ajide, there is need to keep the flag flying by giving the performing football team and others the necessary motivations and support.
Chief Ejidike noted that the preparations of the Nigerian athletes and players were higledy-pigledy which reflected in their appearance at the opening ceremony and departure to Brazil.
The National President, Karate Federation of Nigeria, Chief Ejidike lamented the lack of fund and characteristics fire-brigade approach to major international tournaments and sounded that it is high time Nigeria adopt a novel approach to sports meets.
“The hopeful medal event is perhaps the male football even though the players did not prepare well; however, their performances so far have raised a hope for Nigeria to clinch medal in the round-leather game, hence the need to motivate the boys.
“I call of the Nigeria Football Federation and most importantly the Federal Government to show support for the boys.
“Now that Nigeria has booked quarter- final ticket, it is highly imperative to mobilize fans support that will cheer them to victory for the U-23 Eaglets,” said Ejidike
The sports philanthropist added that the boys have practically demonstrated their determination to win for Nigeria and make names for themselves, supporting them morally and financially therefore, will be like a tonic in their veins.
