Exclusive: Nigeria U23 Star Etebo To Undergo Scan After Suffering Hamstring Injury
Published: August 11, 2016
CD Feirense attacking midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is a huge doubt for Nigeria’s quarterfinal clash against Denmark at Rio 2016 on Saturday after suffering a hamstring injury in the loss to Colombia on Thursday morning.
The Dream Team VI poster boy will undergo a scan when the team arrives in Salvador to discover the extent of his injury, and if he would be available for selection in Nigeria’s remaining games in the competition.
“The initial diagnosis indicate that Etebo suffered a hamstring injury, he will do a scan when they get to Salvador to know the extent of the injury, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
In the closing minutes of the encounter against Colombia, television images showed Etebo stretchered off and Siasia could not replace him because he had used his three substitutes.
The 20-year-old has started three games at the Rio Olympics, scoring four goals against Japan.
