Mikel Proud Of Nigeria Achievement Of Being The Only African Team Left
Published: August 11, 2016
Nigeria U23s skipper John Obi Mikel, 29, believes the national team will overcome their Danish opponents in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games on Saturday.
Sixty eight days have passed since the Samson Siasia-led side were humiliated 6-2 at the Suwon Invitational Tournament in South Korea.
And Mikel is confident the Dream Team will continue to fly Africa’s flag after Saturday, with South Africa and Algeria failing to progress to the knockout rounds.
“The last African â½ team left at #Rio2016 - now we face the Danish Dynamite @DBUfodbold in the 1/4 finals. #WeBelieve, ” Mikel tweeted.
The Nigeria number ten started all the group matches and went the distance against Colombia on Thursday morning.
