The Nigerian U23 National Team, otherwise known as the Dream Team VI,
skipped their workout on Thursday ahead of their quarter-final meeting
with Denmark at Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador.
The squad embarked on a strike to press home their demands for the payments of outstanding bonuses.
“The Nigeria U23 football team didn’t train yesterday in protest over unpaid camp allowances and match bonuses, ” a Nigeria Football Federation insider told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“They have threatened to boycott the quarterfinal game with Denmark if they are not paid before the game. Hopefully, they should resume training today. ”
Nigeria coach Samson Siasia is sweating on the fitness of top scorer Oghenekaro Etebo and Junior Ajayi, who picked up a training ground injury in Atlanta, ahead of the crucial tie with the Scandinavians.
