Exclusive: Dream Team Star Etebo Ruled Out Of Semifinal Clash Against Germany
Published: August 15, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that CD Feirense attacking midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has been ruled out of Nigeria’s semifinal showdown with Germany at the Rio Olympic Games.
The 20-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in the Dream Team’s final Group B fixture last Wednesday, and medics have indicated that he will sit out his second straight game, having missed the quarterfinal clash with Denmark on Saturday.
On Monday afternoon local time, Etebo did not take part in the Nigeria U23s first training session since their arrival in Sao Paulo.
His place in the starting line-up was handed to Turkish - based frontman Aminu Umar in last weekend’s tie with Denmark.
Aside Etebo, assistant skipper Azubuike Okechukwu will not be available for selection against the Germans due to yellow card accumulation.
