Man City Striker Iheanacho Sends Message To Nigeria U23 Squad In Rio
Published: August 21, 2016
Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has sent a congratulatory message to the Dream Team for winning the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games.
The 19-year-old was named to Nigeria’s 35-man provisional roster for the Games, alongside Premier League stars Alex Iwobi (Arsenal) and Odion Ighalo (Watford), but City did not permit him to play for Nigeria in the competition because it clashed with the start of the new season.
“Huge congratulations to the #DreamTeam for winning the Bronze medal in the men’s football event #Rio2016.ðâ½ï¸ð³ð¬ðð, ” Iheanacho tweeted.
The Dream Team took to the pitch approximately two hours after Kelechi Iheanacho notched an assist against Stoke City in the Premier League.
A product of Taye Academy, Iheanacho has played competitively for all the Nigerian national teams apart from the U23 squad.
