Chelsea Coach Praises New Kid On The Block Tariq Uwakwe For Brilliant Goal
Published: August 21, 2016
Chelsea Under-18 coach, Jody Morris, has reflected on his side’s 3-2 loss to Southampton in the Under-18 Premier League on Saturday, and reserved special praise for Tariq Uwakwe for his brilliant strike.
The 16-year-old Nigerian midfielder netted his first goal for the academy team when he fire a left-footed shot into the corner of the goal, but it could not prevent the London team from suffering their first defeat of the season.
“Tariq scored a great goal in the first half but it was hard to enjoy that when we were playing so badly,” Morris told Chelsea’s official website.
“The second goal was a real good team move and a great goal for us to score but then we conceded twice at the end against the run of play when we were totally in control.”
Next up, Uwakwe and his Chelsea teammates will be in action on Friday when they host Swansea City in the league.
