Nigerian Teenager Thrilled To Make Champions League Debut 13 Years After Joining Man City
Published: August 25, 2016
Nigerian teenager Tosin Adarabioyo is thrilled to play his first game in the Champions League, as Manchester City qualified for the group stage thanks to their 1-0 win over Steaua Bucharest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
With the Citizens guaranteed a spot in the next round, manager Pep Guardiola introduced the central defender on the hour mark, and he assisted goalkeeper Joe Hart post a shutout.
Manchester-born Adarabioyo got an opportunity to train with the first team during pre-season, but has been overlooked for selection in City’s first three competitive games of the new season.
The Man City number 53 tweeted : “Happy to make my home and Champions League debut last night #MCFC.”
Adarabioyo’s first and only appearance for the first team in an official match prior to the meeting against the Romanians was against Chelsea in the FA Cup in February 2016.
He has played nonstop at Manchester City for the past thirteen years.
