Nigerian Wonderkid Dele-Bashiru Provides Three Assists In Man City Win Vs Liverpool
Published: August 28, 2016
Nigerian midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru is living up to his billing as one of the top talents at Manchester City’s Academy, having produced one of his best performances to date in a light blue shirt in Saturday’s win against Liverpool in the U18 Premier League.
Dele-Bashiru made City’s starting line-up for the first time in the U18 Premier League this term, and repaid manager Lee Carsley for showing faith in him by notching three assists as the Citizens thrashed their illustrious visitors from Liverpool 7-0.
Though the 16-year-old did not get on the scorecard, he set up the opening goal scored by Joe Hardy and assisted substitute Ian Carlo Poveda bag a brace in the closing minutes.
While Dele-Bashiru lasted the distance at City Football Academy (Manchester), Nigerian-born winger Bobby Adekanye was replaced at half-time, with Liverpool losing 4-0.
The teenager was courted by the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool before penning a new contract at Man City.
