Chelsea Coach Counting On Fikayo Tomori Ahead Big Game Vs Man Utd U23
Published: August 28, 2016
Chelsea U23 coach Adi Viveash is counting on Nigerian defender Fikayo Tomori ahead of his side’s meeting with Manchester United in the Premier League 2 on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues development squad have not kept a clean sheet since the start of this season, with Baxter conceding on the opening day against Sunderland, before Collins picked the ball from his own net in Monday’s 4-1 win over Liverpool.
“It was massive for us to have Fikayo Tomori back because his pace and power is so important for us defensively,” Adi Viveash said to chelseafc.com.
“His presence means that our defensive line can play higher and I thought that was the case against Liverpool, where the only time it really dropped was for their goal.”
With Tammy Abraham heading to Bristol City on loan and Ola Aina promoted to the first team, striker Ike Ugbo is the other Nigerian player that could feature against Manchester United today.
Midfielder Tosin Kehinde has started and completed the two matches contested by the Red Devils U23s in the league this season.
