Published: August 28, 2016
Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala finally ended her goal drought in the Women’s Super League as Arsenal defeated Notts County 2-0 on Sunday evening.
Prior to today’s game at at Meadow Lane, the Super Falcons star had not found the back of the net in the English top-flight since she netted against Arsenal on July 12, 2015, while defending the colours of Liverpool.
Earlier reports had claimed that the former Rivers Angels star netted on her Arsenal debut against Reading on March 23, but the official website of the Women’s Super League credited that goal to Dominique Janssen.
Two minutes out of intermission, Oshoala opened scoring when she kept her her balance and rounded Notts County goalkeeper Megan Walsh before slotting home.
Just before half-time, she had a chance to break the deadlock but saw her effort saved by Walsh, and her shot narrowly missed target in the 35th minute.
