Agent Confirms Nwakali Has Joined MVV Maastricht; Arsenal Talent Still In England
Published: August 31, 2016
Kelechi Nwakali’s intermediary, Allwell Nwakali, has confirmed that that the Nigeria U20 international has joined Dutch Eerste Divisie club MVV Maastricht on loan from Arsenal.
The attacking midfielder was acquired by the Gunners this summer but can’t represent the club in official matches because he has not been granted a work permit.
“It is confirmed that Kelechi is joining MVV Maastricht on loan, ” Allwell Nwakali told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Instead of keeping him in England without playing because of problems of a work permit, Arsenal decided to take him to Holland where he can be playing football.
“If he goes there and does not like the club, he can return to Arsenal in January to resume training.”
The 18-year-old is still in England awaiting the outcome of his visa application to the Netherlands, and is hoping to travel to join his new club before Friday, September 2.
The MVV Maastricht coach plans to hand Nwakali his debut against Eindhoven next Friday if his application for a work permit is successful.
