NFF Poll : Austin Okocha Beats Ohenhen To Nigeria Best Ever Free-Kick Taker
Published: September 16, 2016
Former Bolton Wanderers skipper Austin Okocha has claimed the best free kick taker accolade in a poll conducted by the Nigeria Football Federation on social media.
The Nigerian Federation asked Nigerian fans via Twitter who is Nigeria’s best ever free-kick taker, and 83.33 percent of fans who took part in the poll voted for the attacking midfielder.
Okocha scored a fantastic free-kick during the Super Eagles’ 4-1 win over Algeria in a World Cup qualifier in Lagos 23 years ago before hitting target against Cameroon in an African Cup of Nations clash in February 2004.
Ex-Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets skipper Musa Mohammed, former Nigeria U20 ace Chris Ohenhen, who converted two free-kicks in the famous Miracle of Damman, Sunday Oliseh and Felix Owolobi were also nominated.
