Gent Confirm Moses Simon Has A Tear In Hamstring, Out Of World Cup Qualifier
Published: September 19, 2016
It is all but confirmed that Moses Simon will miss the Super Eagles World Cup qualifier against Zambia in 20 days time, with KAA Gent confirming that the Nigeria international has a tear in his hamstring after undergoing a scan last weekend.
The winger sustained the injury in the closing minutes of the first half during Gent’s 1-1 draw with Sporting Braga in the Europa League last Thursday.
Speaking after the 1-0 loss to Oostende on Sunday, Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck did not reveal the number of weeks the Nigerian will have to spend on the sidelines, but it is assumed that he will be unavailable for selection for up to three weeks.
In nine outings for Gent in all competitions so far this season, Moses Simon has scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists.
Nigeria coach Rohr is also sweating on the fitness of Portuguese-based striker Oghenekaro Etebo ahead of the national team’s next fixture.
