Charlton Athletic Rising Star Joe Aribo Strikes In 1-1 Draw With Birmingham City U23
Published: October 12, 2016
Two players of Nigerian descent were on parade at Greenwich Borough in the U23s league fixture between Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City development teams which ended one goal apiece.
Whilst there was no Nigerian interest in the Blues squad, midfielder Joe Aribo and the prolific striker Josh Umerah were handed starting shirts by the Addicks coach.
On 34 minutes, Aribo opened the scoring for Charlton Athletic with a header and that goal separated the two teams heading into the interval.
Umerah had a chance to double the advantage after 61 minutes but the goalkeeper punched away his fierce shot at goal, before the opponents restored parity seven minutes later.
