Long-Serving Umea IK Midfielder Chikwelu Appointed Nigeria Captain; Ohale & Ordega Assistants

Rita Chikwelu has been appointed the new captain of the Super Falcons by manager Florence Omagbemi and her lieutenants for the 10th Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The long-serving Umeå IK attacking midfielder was handed the captain’s armband after the substantive skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku pulled out of the squad as a result of injury.
Central defender Osinachi Ohale has been named assistant captain for the competition, while Washington Spirit striker Francisca Ordega will act as the second assistant captain.
Ahead of their first game in the competition versus Mali, the Nigerian team will practice at the Stade Municipal de Limbe, venue of the match, for the first time on Saturday afternoon, starting from 1500 hours.
Nigeria are the defending champions of the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
