Nigerian Goalkeeper Ogbebor-Onaiwu To Make AFC Wimbledon Debut Vs Gillingham U18s
Published: November 19, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that it is all but confirmed that former Golden Eaglets trainee Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu will make his competitive debut for AFC Wimbledon U18s on Saturday morning, a month after he joined the club from Charlton Athletic.
It is believed that the highly-rated young goalkeeper will start today’s EFL Youth Alliance - South East clash against Gillingham U18s, barring a last-minute change.
The 16-year-old was a non-playing substitute in AFC Wimbledon’s 8-1 victory against North Greenford United in the first round of the FA Youth Cup at the start of this month.
Ogbebor-Onaiwu recently trained with the Dons first team goalkeepers, first choice James Shea and Joe McDonnell, and showed why he deserves an opportunity in the U18 squad.
The English-born netminder is also expected to make the 18-man squad when Wimbledon face off against Bristol Rovers in the second round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday 23 November.
