Everton Boss To Make Late Decision On Nigerian Wonderkids Ahead Of FA Cup Tie
Published: January 16, 2017
Everton manager David Moyes has refused to rule out Nigerian wonderkids Joel Asoro and Josh Maja from Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Burnley.
With the Black Cats facing an injury crisis and a couple of players representing their nations at the 2017 African Cup of Nations, the promising strikers have made the match day squad for recent fixtures including last weekend’s loss to Stoke City in the Premier League.
“At the moment we don’t have an awful lot of resources, ” Moyes told the club’s official webpage.
“Our numbers are down but we will get players back from injury and we will get players back from the Africa Cup of Nations, but in this period we are short.
“We’ve not decided on what team we’ve got or what we will go with, so we will make that decision over the coming days.”
While Asoro has played three games for the first team in the current campaign, Maja’s solitary appearance was against Queens Park Rangers in the League Cup.
