Former Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori was delighted to make his competitive debut for Reading in their narrow 3-2 loss to Derby County at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Few days after the Royals announced his transfer, the ex-Portugal youth-teamer lasted ninety minutes on the pitch, despite few training sessions with his new teammates.
“Happy to have made my debut yesterday. Your amazing support made things easier. #ReadingFC #EFL #URZ,” Ilori tweeted.
The Sporting Lisbon product has penned a three-and-a-half-year contract with Reading that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2019-2020 season.
Born in England, Ilori is eligible to represent England, Nigeria and Portugal senior national teams.
