Gbolahan Salami Vows To Quit Football After Wife, Son Are Denied Visa
Published: February 13, 2017
Nigeria international Gbolahan Salami has threatened to quit football at the age of 25 after his spouse and one-year-old son were denied a visa by the Finnish Embassy in Abuja.
The Finnish authorities argued that they could not ascertain that his wife has the intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa.
“He told me directly that he can not live like this and that he will stop playing football, if he can not see his family.
“He is afraid that his son will no longer know him,” KuPS CEO Jarmo Heiskanen told Ilta-Sanomat.
Last season, Salami was KuPS top scorer in the Veikkausliiga with 14 goals (2 assists) in 31 appearances.
