Arsenal have a mountain to climb if they are to progress to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after suffering a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
The Bundesliga champions took the lead in the 11th minute through Arjen Robben, who was allowed space and time to shoot with his dangerous left foot.
Against the run of play, Alexis Sanchez picked up a loose ball and equalized for the Gunners after his penalty kick had been saved by Manuel Neuer just after the half-hour mark.
The visitors were a goal behind again in the 53rd minute when Robert Lewandowski scored with a header, before Thiago Alcantara increased the lead three minutes later after finding himself in a 1 on 1 situation with the goalkeeper.
Arsenal were further opened up in the 63rd minute, with Thiago netting his second of the night and substitute Mueller completed the scoring with two minutes remaining.
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi was substituted in the 66th minute, while Bayern number 27 David Alaba impressed in a full shift.
