Spurs Rue Absence Of Ex-Defender Troost-Ekong, Who Played On Same Team As Harry Kane
Published: February 16, 2017
In its preview of Thursday night’s Europa League tie against Gent at the Ghelamco Arena, the official website of Tottenham Hotspur has rued the absence of former player William Troost-Ekong.
The Nigeria international defender has returned to Belgium after his loan spell with Haugesund but will not face his former team because he has not been registered for the competition.
“The club also has an ex-Spurs player in their ranks in the form of William Troost-Ekong, who played for our academy side, including the occasional game in the same team as Harry Kane, before leaving for Dutch side FC Groningen in 2013.
“William, who won bronze with Nigeria at last summer’s Olympic Games in Rio, will not be eligible to feature against us, as he is not named on Gent’s Europa League squad list,” Spurs stated.
Rabiu Ibrahim played alongside Victor Wanyama at Celtic during the 2012-13 season and both would come face to face tonight if they are selected.
