David Alaba Shines As Bayern Set Champions League Record Against Arsenal

Arsenal crashed out of UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night after losing 5-1 to German champions Bayern Munich in the second leg of their round of 16 tie at the Emirates Stadium.

Trailing 5-1 from the first leg in Munich, Walcott gave the Gunners a little bit of hope when he opened the scoring after his shot took Neuer by surprise on 20 minutes.

A night that started with promise for Arsene Wenger’s side ended in more embarrassment when Douglas Costa scored from outside the box to make it 3-1 with 12 minutes left on the clock, before a brace from Arturo Vidal added more gloss to the scoreline.

Bayern Munich have now advanced to the last eight of the Champions League for the sixth time in a row and for the 16th time overall, a feat matched by no other team.

Austria international David Alaba lasted the distance and was booked in the 39th minute.
