Arsenal's Nigerian Wonderkid Balogun Turning Heads In Holland, Scores Against PSG, Bayern
Published: April 17, 2017
Defending champions Arsenal crashed out of the prestigious ABN AMRO Future Cup on Easter Sunday following a 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
With the Young Gunners four goals down, promising Nigerian midfielder Folarin Balogun scored a consolation for the London team when he slipped in behind the defense before beating the goalkeeper with ease.
That second half strike was Balogun's second in two days, having found the net from the spot in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Five players of Nigerian heritage have traveled with the Arsenal squad to the Netherlands including James Olayinka, Xavier Amaechi, Folarin Balogun, Bukayo Saka and England U16 goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who started against Bayern Munich.
Liverpool's Sheyi Ojo was the top scorer at the Future Cup back in 2014, and the Anfield side had agreed to offer a contract to Ovie Ejaria after impressing in the competition.
