Forget Iheanacho... Ex-Super Eagles Coach Gives NFF One Last Chance To Grab Genuine No 9 Ohi
Published: June 13, 2017
Ex-Super Eagles coach Lars Lagerbäck did his former employers, the Nigeria Football Federation, a big favour when he did not hand a debut to former Manchester City trialist Ohi Omoijuanfo in Norway's 1-1 draw with Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifier last weekend.
Assuming Ohi, who wore the number seven jersey on the bench, figured against the Czechs in Oslo, he would have become cap-tied to his country of birth Norway.
The window is still open for the Stabæk frontman to represent the Super Eagles and he has refused to rule out the possibility.
''Hey, hey. Yes, that means so,'' Omoijuanfo told Nettavisen when asked about the possibility of playing for Nigeria.
He added : ''I do not think I was far from getting my debut against the Czech Republic either, but an early injury to Reginiussen meant that we had to make an early swap.
'If we had had three changes to the end, I'm pretty sure I'd also gotten a debut.''
With Lars Lagerback expected to make some changes in Tuesday's friendly against Sweden, everything indicates that Omoijuanfo will make his senior debut for the Norwegian national team.
