Hull City Preparing Ola Aina For Left Back Role At 2018 World Cup
Published: November 20, 2017
Hull City's Russian manager Leonid Slutsky has started preparing Ola Aina for a left-back role at the 2018 World Cup.
The Nigeria international was deployed as a left-back in the Tigers' 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town in an EFL Championship clash at KCOM Stadium (Hull) on Saturday evening.
Aina had played predominantly from the right back position in fifteen of his appearances for Hull City prior to the contest against The Tractor Boys, but acted as a back-up to Sivasspor left-back Elderson Echiejile in all his three appearances for the Nigerian national team to date.
Another Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori replaced the Super Eagle at right-back in the game week seventeen fixture.
Asked why he switched Ola Aina to left back and played Fikayo Tomori at right-back, Slutsky hullcitytigers.com :''"I felt that was the right decision made on form but of course things like this can change with each match.''
Ola Aina started his career as a right winger with an eye for goal before he was converted to a fullback by Chelsea coaches.
