Nigerian Federation: Super Eagles Stars To Pocket N866.4M For World Cup Qualification
Published: November 22, 2017
2.4 million dollars (equivalent of N866.4 million) will be paid to Super Eagles players and officials for qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Nigeria Football Federation spokesman Ademola Olajire has revealed.
Earlier, the NFF reached an agreement with the Super Eagles stars as regards to their bonuses at the tournament in Russia.
The Nigerian Federation want to avoid a repeat of the incident that occurred at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil that forced the Sports Minister to travel to Brazil on a private jet, with nearly four million dollars in cash.
The Super Eagles had deliberately skipped a training session to protest against the non-payment of a qualifying bonus ahead of their second round game against France.
''The NFF have agreed to give the team $2.4 million out of the $8 million we are expecting from FIFA,'' Olajire was quoted as saying by guardian.ng.
Nigeria qualified for their sixth World Cup with a game to spare courtesy of their 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo on October 7.
