Rohr Explains Why Nigeria's Bogey Team Will Be Difficult : They Will Play With Messi
Published: December 01, 2017
Speaking immediately after the World Cup draw on Friday evening, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has explained why two-time world champions Argentina will be difficult opponents.
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli already has the lowdown on the Nigerian national team, with both sides facing each other in a pre-World Cup friendly last month.
On top of that, Argentina have become Nigeria's bogey team at the World Cup, with the Super Eagles losing all their four matches against the South Americans in previous tournaments.
'''Argentina we know them, they are a very good team,'' Rohr told the Nigeria Football Federation.
''It will be more difficult now than before because they know how we play and so we can’t surprise them.
''They will play with Messi. Perhaps, our final group game against Argentina will be the final for our qualification to the next round.''
Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi, Brian Idowu and Kelechi Iheanacho wrote their names on the score-sheet as Nigeria claimed a 4-2 win against Argentina on November 14.
