Super Eagles GK Akpeyi Keeps Seventh Clean Sheet Of The Season For Chippa United

Daniel Akpeyi returned to action from his short injury lay-off to post a shutout in Chippa United's 1-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs in a PSL encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay on Wednesday night.
The Super Eagles goaltender pulled up with a neck injury last time out in a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns but was eventually cleared by the club doctors and deemed fit to continue turning out for the club.
Also in defense for the Chilli Boys was James Okwuosa who solidly contained the opposition attack in a consummate display, putting no foot wrong to stop the visitors from breaching them.
The Nigerian defender picked up the MOTM accolade for his die hard tackling and composed defending throughout the duration of the game.
Akpeyi made a plethora of stunning saves to keep the adventurous Glamour Boys at bay and eventually made sure Ntuthuko Mabaso fifth minute effort turned out to be the match winner.
The clean sheet was the 31-year old seventh in twelve outings outings for Chippa United in all competitions.
With their fourth win of the season, Chippa United move into second spot on the PSL league log with 19 points, tied with table toppers, Mamelodi Sundowns, having played three games more.
