Nigeria Vs Serbia : How The Super Eagles Should Approach This Game

On Tuesday, Nigeria will yet again try Serbia for size in the second of their March friendlies after seeing off Poland 1-0 last weekend, a game which had done little to efficiently convince many.

As dour as the win was with Victor Moses's hour mark penalty goal papering over the cracks,  the Poland game provided a sullen glimpse of what the Nigerian faithful could be expecting by the time the World Cup tournament
kicks off in full swing and amidst the ardor of disjointed play and less idyllic build-ups that was evident at the Municipal Stadium in Wroçlaw, there equally popped up some heart-warming positives to be taken from the encounter.

The Super Eagles goalkeeper on the night,  Francis Uzoho banished a somewhat jittery first half to pose a commandeering display that belied his tender years between the sticks, punching and palming away dangerous crosses while making a sensational save to deny Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski as the African giants maintained their unbeaten record since June 2017.

Returnee midfielder, Joel Obi held sway in midfield alongside Wilfred Ndidi, showing occasional flashes of his quality such that might yet tip the scale in his favour even though team skipper,  Mikel Obi would still return to the fold.

Another combination which we have become accustomed to seeing which was again on show was the Balogun/Troost-Ekong defensive partnership.

Much has already been said about how these two compliment each other and the way they nervelessly nullified the Poland attack showed Rohr has been right to always put his trust on them.

Manager Gernot Rohr is not expected to make wholesome changes to the team that featured in the last run out, unless he springs a surprise and decides to try out something new — Uzoho is almost assured of continuing in goal
ahead of Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

It is worth noting that the Super Eagles would only regroup again in May after facing Serbia, 21 days before they kick their first 2018 World Cup ball against Croatia at the Kaliningrad Stadium in Russia, with tune upgames against DR Congo, England and Czech Republic still to come.

Tomorrow's opponents, Serbia went down 2-1 to Morocco in their date at the Stadio Olimpico the same day the Super Eagles won, with Manchester United's Nemanja Matic and Roma's Alexander Kolarov unable to save their side from the defeat.
