Scoop: The Real Reason Etebo Was Dropped For Real Madrid Clash
Published: March 30, 2018
Las Palmas star Oghenekaro Etebo has insisted he was fit enough to face Real Madrid after he was not selected by manager Paco Jémez for tomorrow's clash at the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
The attacking midfielder would have been included in Las Palmas match day squad if he had not reported for international duty last week and as a result he was not properly assessed by the coaching staff.
The official word from Las Palmas coach Jémez is that he did not want to risk the Super Eagle.
''Etebo is not in Las Palmas squad because he didn't train with the team during the international break as he was with the Super Eagles in London,'' a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He is very okay now fitness wise but unfortunately he can't play. He wanted to play this game.''
The CD Feirense loanee has appeared in seven matches in the Spanish top-flight, logging 585 minutes in total and providing an assist.
After 29 games, the Canary Islands club sit 18th in the 20-team standings with 21 points accumulated.
