France And Nigeria To Compete For Toulouse Wonderkid Akinjogunla
Published: April 03, 2018
The French Football Federation (FFF) and Nigerian Federation will be competing to secure the services of Toulouse wonderkid Temitope Akinjogunla in future, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Born August 18, 2002, the defender holds a French passport but is eligible to represent Nigeria's youth teams using the granny rule.
The French Football Federation consider Akinjogunla as one of the emerging talents in the country and have invited him to their U16 team ahead of next year's Fifa U17 World Cup in Peru.
The highly-rated youngster showed off his skills at the recently concluded 2018 Montaigu Tournament and featured in the third-place playoff against England.
If the Nigerian Federation decide to lure Akinjogunla to represent the Golden Eaglets in Peru, there won't be need for an allegiance switch as he has not played competitively for France's youth teams.
He was part of the Toulouse U16 squad that won the prestigious Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden in July 2017.
