Martins, Aiyenugba, Ideye Names Being Bandied About For Provisional World Cup Roster, Agali Reacts
Published: April 04, 2018
Super Eagles chief scout, Victor Agali, has hinted that manager Gernot Rohr may include one or two new players in his provisional squad list for the World Cup.
Though the former Hansa Rostock striker has not revealed the identities of these players, the names being bandied about include Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker Obafemi Martins, Malaga's Brown Ideye, Osmanlıspor's Raheem Lawal and Israeli-based goalkeepers Dele Aiyenugba and Austin Ejide.
''I know Gernot Rohr is fair to all and is committed to developing the image of our football,'' Agali said to aoifootball.com.
''He will decide on that. I can’t comment on if he will stick with the ones he has tested and know or not, but may be one or two new faces, just maybe.
''I strongly believe we should scout more and know more of about opponents.''
Gernot Rohr must name his provisional roster for the World Cup on or before May 14, while deadline for teams to name their 23-player list is June 4, ten days before the opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
