Chelsea Loanee Fikayo Tomori Scores First Professional Goal But.....
Published: April 21, 2018
Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori faces an anxious wait to find out if he scored his first professional goal in Hull City's 5-5 draw with Bristol City in an EFL Championship clash at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon.
A minute before the interval, the Tigers were trailing 2-1 and the coach made a tactical change, bringing on Tomori to replace Super Eagles defender Ola Aina, who was struggling to cope with the pace of the game.
Bristol City's Famara Diedhiou went on to grab his brace in the 53rd minute before Hull City reduced the deficit three minutes later.
The England U21 international's downward header hit the woodwork onto goalkeeper Frank Fielding and into the net, and both Hull City and Bristol City officially credited the goal to the Canadian-born defender but the English Football League has the final say.
Few minutes later, Tomori thought he had scored again, only for the assistant referee's flag to be raised for offside.
The 20-year-old had played 35 professional games cumulatively for Chelsea, Brighton & Hove and Hull City before netting his first senior goal today.
With two games remaining before the end of the regular season, Hull City have 48 points and secured their Championship survival with the draw today.
