Alex Iwobi Features As Arsenal Hit West Ham For Four
Published: April 22, 2018
Arsenal toppled Premier League opponents, West Ham 4-1 in their league game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, coming out top thanks to late onslaught in the five-goal thriller.
Alex Iwobi made his 22nd Premier League appearance for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, starring from the off.
The Super Eagle nearly put the hosts up after seven minutes, rising highest in the box to meet a corner delivery but was thwarted by West Ham defender, Angelo Ogbonna.
Arsene Wenger's side would get the breakthrough six minutes into the second half when a Granit Xhaka's cross fell to Nacho Monreal in the opposition's area which the Spanish defender duly volleyed home for 1-0.
Though Marko Arnautovic drew level for the visitors after 64 minutes following good work from Manuel Lanzini but they would soon run out of luck as two goals in the space of four minutes from Arsenal was enough to condemn them to defeat.
First, Aaron Ramsey restored the advantage in the 82nd minute by virtue of a poor Hammers defending before Alexandre Lacazette's late double capped off a resilient afternoon showing from the Gunners.
Alex Iwobi was replaced by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after 70 minutes of action.
