Obi Mikel Speaks On Czech Friendly: We Will Start Well & Get A Good Result
Published: June 05, 2018Super Eagles captain Obi Mikel has vowed that they will avoid repeating the same mistakes that contributed to their loss to England last weekend when they face the Czech Republic in their final pre-World Cup friendly on Wednesday afternoon.
The Three Lions took an early first-half lead through Gary Cahill in the seventh minute before Harry Kane added a second on 39 minutes but Nigeria came back strongly in the second half, pulling a goal back through Alex Iwobi.
''The game against England was a good test for us, we played well in the second half,'' Mikel said in an interview with the Nigerian Federation.
''First half we didn't get going but second half we started playing. We scored the goal and created more chances to win the game.
''Hopefully, tomorrow we can start well and get a good result. I urge Nigerians to keep supporting us.''
Ahead of tomorrow's friendly at Rudolf-Tonn-Stadion (Schwechat), the Super Eagles held two training sessions today.
