Confirmed: Nigerian Defender Dubbed The New David Alaba Joins SC Freiburg From Bayern Munich
Published: July 28, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that promising Nigerian defender Kimberly Ezekwem has ended his association with German champions Bayern Munich after penning a deal with another Bundesliga club SC Freiburg.
The left back, who models his game on Austria star of Nigerian descent David Alaba, will remain on the books of SC Freiburg until at least the end of the 2019-2020 season, having put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
Several clubs were interested in signing Ezekwem before SC Freiburg won the race for his signature and he has been added to their U19 roster.
The 17-year-old is not yet in tiptop condition as he recently recovered from a knee injury but is hoping to show off all his skills to his new employer when the new season begins on August 11.
Ahead of their first game against Unterhaching U19, Ezekwem has been training with SC Freiburg for the past three weeks.
He featured for the youth teams of SE Freising and 1860 Munich prior to his move to Bayern Munich.
