Official: Liverpool Defender Links Up With Taiwo Awoniyi At KAA Gent
Published: August 24, 2018
Through a statement on their official website, Liverpool have confirmed the outgoing transfer of Anderson Arroyo to Belgian First Division team KAA Gent.
Just like the agreement between the Reds and Gent for the transfer of Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi, Arroyo will spend the remainder of the 2018-2019 campaign on loan at the 2015 champions.
Another similarity is that the two players have not yet debuted for Liverpool's first team because they have not received a work permit to play in England.
Awoniyi was loaned out to Royal Excel Mouscron for the entirety of last season, while Arroyo was immediately sent to Spanish outfit Real Mallorca in February 2018 after Liverpool announced his capture.
The Nigerian has been registered by Gent for the Europa League and was named in the starting lineup against Bordeaux on Thursday in a playoff game, new signing Arroyo will be hoping to play a part in the group stage if they qualify.
Awoniyi previously had loan stints at FSV Frankfurt (Germany) and NEC (Netherlands) .
