Abraham To Finally Shun Eagles? England U21 Boss Wants Chelsea Product To Fight His Way Back Into Three Lions
England U21 boss Aidy Boothroyd would prefer to see his pupil, Tammy Abraham, play for the senior national team of England over the Super Eagles after urging the striker to fight his way back into the Three Lions.

Abraham is provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth as he has played competitively for England age-grade teams but his two caps for the Three Lions were in non-competitive matches against Brazil and Germany, meaning he is still eligible to represent the Super Eagles.

Despite manager Gareth Southgate taking a young squad to  the 2018 World Cup, Abraham was snubbed because of his poor form in the second half of last season.

''Very rarely do you get a player's development that is on a smooth upward path," Boothroyd was quoted as saying by Sky Sports UK.

"It is up and down, a rollercoaster. With Tammy, he has had an opportunity, he's played (for the senior side), he's got his cap, but now it's about getting his head down and fighting his way back into that position.

"That's just the beginning for him, not the end of it. It is a goal reached but now it is a question of how he can get 10 caps, 20 caps, 30 and so on. Tammy has had a taste of it and now he needs to fight his way back."

Chelsea defender Ola Aina and Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi represented England's youth teams before pledging their international future to the Super Eagles and were both named in Nigeria's provisional squad for the World Cup.
