Nigerian Striker On Target In Shootout As Man Utd Qualify For Premier League National Finals
Published: September 24, 2018Promising Nigerian striker Mipo Odubeko was on target in the shootout as Manchester United U16s sealed their place in the Premier League National Finals after beating Everton, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Red Devils won their group which contained the Toffees, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Manchester United goalkeeper Dermot Mee made a save from the spot after Odubeko had scored his penalty.
Eligible for Nigeria through his parents, Republic of Ireland are ahead of the Nigerian Federation for his services as he has been capped at youth level for the Europeans.
Three years ago, he was playing for St Joseph’s Boys in Ireland before he was spotted by Manchester United scouts.
Odubeko was in the United squad that traveled to Hong Kong for the JC Youth Football Academy Summit 2018, a week-long cultural and football
exchange programme with elite youth players from Guangdong and Hong
Kong.
