Bordeaux New Boy Sends Message To Sunderland Fans After Acrimonious Departure From Stadium Of Light
Published: January 27, 2019Former Super Eagles invitee Josh Maja has taken to social media to send a message to everyone connected with Sunderland after sealing a transfer to Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux on Saturday, January 26.
Maja departed the Stadium of Light in acrimonious circumstances after he refused to sign a new deal on the advice of his agent.
His impressive form and contract situation led to a scramble for his signature with a host of clubs in the Premier League, Championship, Bundesliga and Scottish Premiership credited with an interest but it was Bordeaux who eventually won the race for his services.
Maja posted on Instagram : ''Would like to express how much of an honour it was to break through into senior football at such a special club, that is Sunderland AFC.
''I had many blessed moments during my time at Sunderland & also some bad moments but you guys always stuck by me so I’ll always be grateful for that.
''By far the most passionate fans I have come across so I am sure the SoL will continue to be a fortress.
''I am wishing everyone involved with SAFC all the best going forward, and I know the club will return to where it belongs. @sunderlandafcofficial''.
The 20-year-old Maja is Sunderland's top scorer this season with 16 goals from 30 appearances in all competitions.
