WAFU-UFOA Zone B-Winning Team To Represent Eaglets In Turkey, Manu Searching For New GK
Published: February 28, 2019
2013 U17 World Cup-winning manager Manu Garba has made it crystal clear that the trialists presently at the Golden Eaglets get-together in Abuja are unlikely to be included in the squad list for the upcoming UEFA Assist U17 International Tournament in Turkey, but stand a good chance of making the roster for the U17 AFCON.
In their latest friendly game before heading to Turkey, the Golden Eaglets thrashed Ambassador Academy Lagos 10-0, with the old players used in the first half which ended 3-0 while the new players in camp were utilized in the second half.
''We are seeing improvements, especially from new boys in camp, we were able to give chances to new boys,'' Manu Garba said.
''By seeing such boys, we are going to bring a lot of them to camp to fight for positions by the time we come back from Turkey.
''The list is already out, only the team that traveled to Niger are going to Turkey''.

He added : ''The main reason of going to Turkey is to give us an insight on how our opponents will play. By the time we see them, we will be able to know how we can approach them by the time we go to Tanzania.
''It is not a disadvantage going to Turkey because everybody will see each other, that's why everybody has to backup its strategy.

''We are at an advantage because a lot of new boys here will make the team to Tanzania and not go there''.
Manu Garba has admitted that he is on the lookout for a very good goalkeeper to provide cover for John Ikedinachukwu Amah.
''The only place we are still looking for is the goalkeeping position, for the right back we have seen some few players.
''Defense, we are fully covered. We still need very good goalkeepers to support the number one,'' he said.
The Golden Eaglets begin their campaign at the UEFA Assist U17 International Tournament against Senegal on March 5 before facing Montenegro (March 7) and Angola (March 9).
