In-Form Chelsea Loanee Aina At Risk Of Missing Super Eagles AFCONQ Vs Seychelles
Published: March 03, 2019
Nigeria have suffered an injury blow ahead of their first two matches this year, an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and friendly against Egypt after Ola Aina was ruled out of Torino's ongoing Italian Serie A clash against Chievo Verona.
The Chelsea loanee had been named in the starting line-up but was forced to withdraw at the last minute after suffering a suspected muscle injury during the pre-match warm-up.
Argentine defender Cristian Ansaldi was drafted in to replace Aina, who watched the game from the stands.
The Nigerian fullback will be examined after the game to ascertain the severity of the injury and determine the expected date of return to training.
Rated one of the most in-form Nigerian players in Europe at the moment, it was a foregone conclusion that he was set to be called up for international duty this month until this setback.
Aina pulled out of the Super Eagles squad vs Seychelles in September 2018 due to a muscle injury and was not in the match day squad against South Africa and Uganda after he was diagnosed with an inflammation to the right foot.
