Published: March 08, 2019
Famous French sports newspaper L’Equipe have come up with the ratings of the Arsenal players in their Europa League round of 16 first leg tie against Stade Rennais on Thursday evening.
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi curled the ball past goalkeeper Tomas Koubek to open the scoring in the 4th minute and the Gunners continued to dominate until the 41st minute when Sokratis Papastathopoulos was sent off.
Benjamin Bourigeaud equalised in the 42nd minute before second-half goals from Nacho Monreal (OG) and the impressive Ismaila Sarr secured a win for the Ligue 1 team.
Iwobi, who was replaced in the 52nd minute, received six for his efforts and was the highest ranked Gunners outfield player, one less than goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Torreira, Mkhitaryan and Koscielny were given five, Ozil, Xhaka and Mustafi got four, Aubameyang and Monreal three, while Papastathopoulos was not rated.
Iwobi has netted five goals in all competitions in the 2018-19 campaign, his best tally in a single season since he turned professional.
