Photo Confirmation : Versatile Defender Pens New Deal With Chelsea
Published: March 14, 2019Promising defender Ian Maatsen has been rewarded with a new deal by Premier League club Chelsea.
Born March 10, 2002, Maatsen has inked his first professional contract with The Blues less than a year after he joined the club from PSV Eindhoven, whom he helped win the U17 league title last season.
He is comfortable playing in four different positions : left-back, wing-back, centre-back and central midfield.
The highly-rated youngster took to Instagram to announce he has penned a new contract : ''Happy to sign my first professional contract with Chelseaâđ˝#thankgodforeverythingâ¤ď¸''.
Maatsen featured for the youth teams of SV CWO, Feyenoord Rotterdam and Sparta Rotterdam before joining PSV in 2015.
He helped Chelsea qualify for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday, going the distance in their 2-1 win vs Montpellier.
