Published: March 23, 2019
Three European clubs have reacted to Nigeria's 3-1 win against Seychelles in both countries final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier staged in Asaba on Friday, March 22.
Although the game was a dead rubber as the Super Eagles had already qualified for the AFCON before the contest, Chelsea, Leicester City and Levante monitored proceedings at the Stephen Keshi Stadium because their players were on international duty with the Nigeria squad.
Leicester City's Ndidi was the shining light in midfield and won the Super Eagles a penalty which Odion Ighalo converted for his seventh goal in the AFCONQ, Levante's Moses Simon needed less than five minutes to find the net after coming off the bench and Chelsea's Kenneth Omeruo impressed at the heart of defence.
In a review of their players on international duty, Chelsea wrote : ''1n Nigeria earlier today, Kenneth Omeruo played the full game as the Super Eagles closed their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 3-1 victory over Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
''They had already guaranteed their progression to this summerβs tournament in Egypt, and will discover their group stage opponents when the draw is made on 12 April.
''Ola Aina was unavailable through injury, and Victor Moses has retired from international duty.''
