'New Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang' Confirms Invitation To Super Eagles For Friendly Vs Egypt
Spezia striker David Okereke, who has been labelled the 'new Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang', has confirmed that he has been handed a late call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Egypt, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr closely monitored the performance of the versatile striker in training after the Dream Team VII squad returned from Tunisia and ran the rule over the Football College Abuja product against Libya today.

Okereke says he has been asked to stay back and join up with the Super Eagles following discussions with Rohr after the game at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Against Libya U23s, he replaced Taiwo Awoniyi on 78 minutes and added some more gloss to the scoreline when he kept a cool head to guide home the fourth goal of the day in stoppage time.

The Super Eagles are short on personnel ahead of the friendly with the Pharaohs, with Odion Ighalo still nursing an injury, Ahmed Musa has returned to Saudi Arabia while four players were asked to strengthen the Dream Team and unlikely to be available for selection since they went the distance against Libya.

Okereke has been directly involved in 18 goals in 24 Serie B appearances for Spezia in the 2018-19 campaign.
