Simy Making Late Push For Nigeria's AFCON Roster, Nets 7th Goal In 6 Games
Crotone striker Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo could be one of Gernot Rohr's options in attack at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations provided he maintains his excellent goalscoring form, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The Future Hope Academy, Nkpor product gatecrashed the Super Eagles traveling party to Russia last summer after catching the eye in the tail end of the 2017-18 campaign and it seems history is about to repeat itself.

Simy was on target in the 36th minute as Crotone claimed a 2-0 win against Perugia at Stadio Ezio Scida on Tuesday and also set up the other goal scored by his team.

The 26-year-old has now contributed to 10 goals ( 7 goals, 3 assists) in his last six matches in the Italian Serie B.

From the start of the season to December 31, 2018, the lanky striker managed only four goals in 18 games and lost his spot in the starting line-up, which may have contributed to Rohr's decision to omit him from the Super Eagles rosters, with the exception of the AFCON qualifier against Seychelles in September.

Simy's rivals for an Africa Cup of Nations spot are experiencing a dip in form in terms of goals, with Paul Onuachu failing to score in his last four matches in the league, while Kelechi Iheanacho and Isaac Success have managed only one goal each in the Premier League this season.
