The Decision That Could Jeopardize Akpom's International FuturePlayers sometimes make decisions that positively affect their career for a very long time, while some players also made decisions that prevent them from reaching the best of their career.

Former Arsenal player Chuba Akpom was approached by Sunday Oliseh in 2015 over the possibility of pledging his allegiance to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

However, the 23-year-old ignored the manager's offer as he insisted that his international future lies with the Three Lions of England.

His decision ultimately stopped the Nigeria Football Federation from chasing after his services, as Amaju Pinnick turned his attention to other players of Nigeria decent.

Two years after turning down Nigeria's offer, Akpom surprisingly rescinded his decision having failed to make his competitive debut for the European country.

He trained with Rohr's team in 2017 and he equally revealed his readiness to honor Nigeria's invitation in the future.

That decision was too late  for Akpom because it appeared he wasn't part of NFF plans any longer.

To add more to his problems, Rohr brought many attack-minded youngsters into his team which largely reduced Akpom's chances of getting a debut call-up to the Eagles camp.

Ignoring the Super Eagles duty is definitely one of the worst decisions made by Akpom so far in his career, and the former England youth international might regret this for many years to come.

Alex Iwobi, who was his childhood friend at the Emirates Stadium, has featured in 27 matches for the Super Eagles.

Ola Aina, whom they both trained with the Eagles in London, has 6 international caps.
