Updated U17 AFCON Nigeria 1 Angola 0 : Olusegun's First Half Goal Enough To Secure Three Points
Published: April 17, 2019
Nigeria beat Angola 1-0 in their second Group game of the 2019 U-17 AFCON competition at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, with Olakunle Olusegun's solitary goal proving the difference.
Golden Eaglets manager, Manu Garba largely elected to go with the same team that beat Tanzania last time out, opting for Sunday Stephen in place of Suleiman Shaibu in between the pipes.
Nigeria took the lead 20 minutes into the game in Dar Es Salam through the spot after Wisdom Ubani's shot had deflected into the arm of an Angolan defender, with Olusegun Olakunle stepping up to dispatch the resultant penalty.
Angola were made to pay for their physical approach to the game in the second half when Cabingano was sent off for a dangerous tackle on an advancing Olusegun, earning a second yellow in the process.
